Suran is a great source of fiber, potassium, manganese, copper, and antioxidants. They’re versatile, easy to prepare, and a great vegetable to include in your diet in both sweet and savory dishes. Also known as Elephant Foot Yam, Senai Kizhangu, Chena, Surai Kanda, Thiya Kandha, Suvarna Gadde, Choorna Gedde, it is a tuberous vegetable that has a similar taste to elephant foot yam. It is widely used in all curry, all bharta or chokha, pickles and chutney due to its wonderful flavour and it can be eaten fried or in yam curry.
